When I first started doing my own nails, I didn’t know what were the things I needed or where to buy it. I would ask people at the salon and at asian markets, but no one really wanted to tell me anything. They were all rude and acted like acrylic nails was a big secret. Well, to make a long story short, I went into walmart one day last year and bought a cheap acrylic nail set. That was the best decision ever.
Anyway, in this video, I show you how I do my own acrylic nails. I practiced several times before I got the hang of it, but it was well worth it. In Cali, you could get a full set for about the same price as you would if you were to buy your own kit at walmart, but I prefer to do my own nails because I feel like people at the salon never do a good job.
I am not a professional at doing nails. I do not have a license so please if you watch this video don’t take it to heart. It’s meant for sharing my own method and not as an official guide on how to do acrylics professionally. I just love doing my own nails and wanted to share it with you guys.

You don’t have to buy each of these things individually. You can do what I did and buy a complete acrylic nail kit at CVS, or Walmart. I got most of these things from that kit..even the tips are usually included.

Pros’ and Cons’ of False Nails (Acrylic & Gel Tips/Overlays) ♡

Acrylic nails are applied using a monomer (the ‘liquid’), and a polymer (the ‘powder’). The two ingredients are combined and the resulting bead of soft acrylic is placed into your nails and shaped into an artificial nail enhancement. Acrylic hardens by exposure to room temperature air in about 2 minutes for most brands. Acrylic is the most common form of nail enhancement offered in salons.
UV gel nails are made from chemicals which are part of the acrylic family, but are different in a few ways. They are made from gel! The gels are applied to your nails in several thinly applied layers, and each and every layer MUST be cured under a UV lamp for about 2 minutes each. This is quite different from the way acrylic nails harden – by exposure to air. Gel doesn’t cure by exposing it to air. It uses the UV light emitted from the UV lamp to start the process of polymerization, and cure into the finished product. This takes place in 2 minutes – normally.

THE ART OF REMOVING NAIL POLISH: robin moses nail art tutorial
(found in the “favorites” playlist on youtube) where i live, the little ‘remover jars’ are illegal to use as a working nail tech, each client must have their polish removed manually. to do this, it causes a lot of strife for those who are wearing long nails….here is a better way.
