Question about health of my nails?

My nails grow really slowly and when they do they’re week and they chip split and break and they’re yellow and thin. I have to keep cutting them right down to the nail bed. Why is this and how can I help it?

Do you smoke? unhealthy nails usually result from that.

But really, eat healthy, live healthy and you’ll notice the difference in your body.

can acrylic nails be filled when you have a gel overlay?

I have acrylic nails, and instead of the normal clear polish that I normally get over the nails, the technician offered to put a gel overlay instead, as they were guaranteed not to chip or anything for 3 weeks. They haven’t, and I really like how extra shiny my nails are with the gel, but I didn’t think to ask if you can get a fill when there’s a gel overlay. It might be a stupid question, but I’d rather ask now than look like an idiot later on.

You can just have an infill of gel, gel tends to be kinder to ur natural nail (no buffing/dehydrating/glue on ur nail) when done properly. You can do that til ur acrylic has grown out. It is suprising how the gel adds strength to natural nails too, so they can grow without breaking!

If ur an acrylic lover the gel can be soaked off and removed no problem and it won’t damage ur acrylic, then have ur infill.

I am keen to know, did u have ur acrylic then a gel overlay straight away? As I am wondering how much she charged you, as it seems strange to do both (and an expensive way to have ur nails done paying for both services!)

How long would it take for very short nails to grow naturally?

I have really short nails. Probably like 4 cm long. I really want them to grow so can you please answer these questions if you know:

How log does it take for short fat nails to grow naturally?

How long does t take using a type of nail growth

And what is the best type of nail growth? I heard nailtiques but I don’t know. What do you think? Thanks!

I assume you mean 4mm…

And to be honest it depends on your diet, and metabolic rate. The average rate of growth is 3mm in a month, I’ve never tried any products to speed growth but I’ve heard Sally Hansen does a good range of nailcare products.

I prefer having short nails because mine are quite brittle, but good luck!

When I first started doing my own nails, I didn’t know what were the things I needed or where to buy it. I would ask people at the salon and at asian markets, but no one really wanted to tell me anything. They were all rude and acted like acrylic nails was a big secret. Well, to make a long story short, I went into walmart one day last year and bought a cheap acrylic nail set. That was the best decision ever.

Anyway, in this video, I show you how I do my own acrylic nails. I practiced several times before I got the hang of it, but it was well worth it. In Cali, you could get a full set for about the same price as you would if you were to buy your own kit at walmart, but I prefer to do my own nails because I feel like people at the salon never do a good job.

I am not a professional at doing nails. I do not have a license so please if you watch this video don’t take it to heart. It’s meant for sharing my own method and not as an official guide on how to do acrylics professionally. I just love doing my own nails and wanted to share it with you guys.

List of products I used in this video:
-White nail tips
-Scissors
-Nail Clippers
-Acetone Nail Polish Remover & Cotton Balls
-Acrylic Powder in Clear
-Acrylic Liquid
-Dampened Dish
-Acrylic Nail Brush (tipped brush is an alternative)
-Clear Nail Polish
-Crystal Nail File
-Nail Buffer
-Nail Glue

You don’t have to buy each of these things individually. You can do what I did and buy a complete acrylic nail kit at CVS, or Walmart. I got most of these things from that kit..even the tips are usually included.
