Nail Salon dirty tricks exposed pedicure manicure exposed part 2 =o

2 Nail Salon dirty tricks exposed pedicure manicure exposed part 2 =oHealth Canada is advising Canadians that the use of the ingredient methyl methacrylate (MMA) in cosmetic nail preparations is unsafe. The strong adhesion properties of MMA can cause painful tearing and possible permanent loss of the natural nail, should the artificial nail be jammed or caught. Allergic reactions to MMA include red skin rashes, contact dermatitis, itching and/or small oozing blisters in the affected area. MMA may also cause irritation to the nose and throat, as well as headaches.

The use of MMA as a cosmetic ingredient poses a risk to the health and safety of consumers. Section 16 of the Food and Drugs Act states that no cosmetic may cause injury to the health of the user.

No cosmetic products containing MMA are to be sold in Canada. However, some cosmetic products containing MMA may still be available on the Canadian marketplace. If you suspect that MMA is being used at your local nail salon, contact your nearest Health Canada Product Safety Office.

Here are some things to look for if you suspect that MMA is being used:

A pungent chemical odour that can cause dizziness or lightheadedness.
Enhancements that are extremely hard and very difficult to file, even with coarse abrasives.
Enhancements that will not soak off in solvents designed to remove acrylics; often the manicurist has to grind the MMA nail down to the real nail.
Low cost of full sets of acrylic nails and of touch-up procedures (nail preparations containing MMA are generally one third the price of safer alternatives).
Unlabelled containers: technician will not show or tell you what brand of product is being used.

Anyone who’s been in the same room as an open bottle of nail polish remover knows how strong it smells. Now imagine working in those fumes all day, every day. That’s what it’s like to work in a nail salon. There’s growing concern that nail salon workers are being exposed to such high levels of these fumes that their health is at risk. Ann Dornfeld reports on a project in Seattle to teach nail technicians how to keep themselves safe at work

Are the chemicals in nail polish dangerous to someones health? (not ingested but just on the nails)?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 in nails health by admin

I usually never wear nail polish, but I plan to put some on tomarrow. I heard some nailpolishs were recalled a while ago because the chemicals from the nailpolish soak in through the nail and into the skin. And since the skin is an actual organ in the body, it would be harming the body. Any information about it?
But Kay, nail polish doesn’t need to be approved before it is put on the market, and the epidermes it pretty much completely dead skin, but lotion still seeps through.

Unfortunatelly, there is no way to know for sure. Like you said, it doesn’t need to be approved. Every brand is slightly different and they can put whatever they want in it. The good news is, once it’s dry, it is pretty much harmless. (Well, your nail is not breathing anymore because it’s basically covered in paint, but that’s minor.) So it is pretty similar to handeling nail polish remover or acetone with your bare hands – not great, but since the exposure is pretty short, and the areas exposed are pretty small – just your fingers – it is not a big deal.

The worst part of nail polish is paint thinner, whichever kind they decide to use. On the scale from 1 to 4, the health threat of this type of chemicals is 1.

If you really want to know about each and every ingredient of nail polish – you need find out every chemical a particular brand uses and type in "MSDS for (chemical name )" into a search window. MSDS stands for Material Safety Data Sheets they are standard for every chemical lab in the US. But in reality, it is pretty safe, I wouldn’t worry about it.

What are long nails considered beautiful on women?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 in longest nails by admin

I don’t get it, it looks these women who have long nails could scratch your eyes out, why do people think it’s pretty? Sure it makes sense to have healthly look clean nails, but why so long?

i think its cause men think its sexy when women run their overly long nails down theirs arm or something cooky like that.

I have really really short nails I want tips?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 in short nails by admin

I have reall reallly super short nails like they dont even got little tip lol soo i want tips idk if i should get acrylics or gel which one is bettter for short nails and can u get tips on short nails also how much are they i want baby pink tips Price plz =]

I have always just gotten regular acrylics. My nails are bitten, and torn so often they sometimes bleed, and my actual finger is longer than my nails… long story short… I have no nails. They will just glue the tip further back on your finger nail. Normally a full set will cost you around 35 to 40 dollars, and fills can be around 10 to 15 every two weeks.

I am interested in getting acrylic nails I am wanting to get like the french manicure ones what do I ask for?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 in french acrylic by admin

I am really wanting to know what you ask for when you go to the nail salon. I want the type of acrylic nails that have the french tip. So what do I ask for? How long is the process? Other basic information would be good to. Thanks, please don’t tell me to search the internet too because I have tried and there aren’t any websites that give the information that I am asking for.

TELL THEM YOU NEED A FULL SET OF ACRYLIC NAILS WITH A FRENCH TIP THE PROCESS TAKES 30-45 MINUTES DEPENDING ON THE MANICURIST
